CARLOS PALANCA HALL OF FAME
1992 The Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, the country's most prestigious literary contest since 1953, grants the Hall of Fame award to its winners who bagged a total of five first-prizes. Rene O. Villanueva garnered a total of nine first-prizes in several literary genres at that time, which included him in the first set of "Palanca Hall of Fame." LITERARY AWARDS Villanueva received a record win of 29 prizes from the country's most prestigious literary contests. He won several awards in the Filipino division in several genres, including one-act plays, full-length plays, and children's stories; in the English division, a one-act play and children's stories.
